A fish story of a different kind ...

In his book, The Star Thrower, Loren Eisley tells of the time after a storm when he was walking along the beach.

There were literally thousands of starfish washed onto the beach and he noticed a little boy picking up the starfish and throwing them back into the sea.

Seeing the futility of this little boy’s effort when there were so many thousands of starfish, he asked the boy why he was doing it.

The boy answered, "If I don’t, they will die!"

"But how can so few make a difference among so many thousands of starfish?" he asked.

The little boy picked up another starfish and hurled it into the sea and said, "It’s going to make a lot of difference for this one!"

Eisley left the boy and went home to write, but was unable to write a single word.

He was so struck with the profound wisdom from such a young child.

So he returned to the beach and spent the rest of the day helping the boy throw starfish back into the ocean.

So the question becomes: How will you make a difference this week?
